Simple task - import from DeltaV to PowerBI

Hello!

We have DeltaVTm 11.3.1 on a plant on local PC. Did not update software from 2013.

It shows all process data and tanks levels with finished product in control room.

On other hand we have PowerBI for finance and sales and analyze all historical data in real time.

We also have a very strange guys in Mosvow Emerson representative office who ask us to pay for 5(!!!) years support before updating software. They say that no import until we pay for suppotr and update.

Thats sounds strange to me. As i read from manual, DeltaV software include a historian and possibility to import.

I have  a simple task - see in Power BI 10 finished products tanks inventory.

Are there any simple ways to import data from DeltaV to PowerBi?

Are there any simple ways to store DeltaV data in Azure IOT cloud? And visualize this data by PowerBi?

Thank you in advance

  • DeltaV comes with a historian. Tag configuration is set in DeltaV explorer. You have to license it, but by default you can use local workstation up 250 tags.
You view historian using process history view (PHV).

Search Bulk edit in books online for import/export capabilities. Excel/Access are only options unless you want to try and parse the .FHX file format.

OPC is typically the best way to connect DeltaV to other data sources. I don't believe power bi has an opc data connector.

You could try a homebrewed/custom built solution at your own risk... v.11.3.1 does not have OPC UA server (v14.3+) . Only DA/HDA/.NET

  • Consider using an OPC connection would be the easiest way to interface the data across the systems. It will require licensing based on the number of points you want to map.
