Wonderware as HMI with Delta-V Controllers/IO

a client has asked us to provide WW In touch HMI with Delta-V controllers, instead of providing Delta-V as DCS system. we are of course resisting as it doe snot make any sense.

any ideas/ key points of what customer will loose if they don;t have Delta-V Operator interface/HMI?

have you heard of this arch before?

I believe, the only way would be through OPC server..

any thoughts?

  • I guess the question is what don't they want from Deltav? The only way they can truly have Deltav controllers without DeltaV being the DCS is to use PK controllers, which can be programmed in a stand alone fashion, like a PLC, and can be addressed as OPC UA servers by an HMI package as client. If they simply don't like DeltaV Operate (the HMI package for DeltaV) they should probably look into DeltaV Live, which is the next generation HMI package, rather than not taking advantage of the centralized configuration database, version control, batch engine, security, and historization features Deltav offers as a DCS. If cost is the issue, I honestly think using PK controllers as standalone PACs that need to be integrated into other systems has high hidden costs beyond any concerns around Deltav DCS system licensing costs (you will need to pay for support from both WW and Deltav instead of just DeltaV, staff will need to maintain and upgrade individual systems rather than one, etc)
  • Desde luego una solucion viable es usar un servidor OPC sin embargo se pierden muchas características propias de DeltaV
