DeltaV 11.3 Proplus PC Replacement

Gents,

We have a tiny DeltaV system consist of a Proplus and an Application Station.

For security reasons we decided to replace the hardware of our 8 years old Proplus (basically the Dell PC itself), however we will keep the original DeltaV version (11.3)

I kindly would like to ask you to guide us through the major steps of that replacement.

I appreciate your help.

Best Regards,

Akos

  • Hi Akos, How are you? hope you remember me? EMERSON, Leicester? Replacing with new hardware is easy if you are in work-group environment. if you are in DOMAIN, then it is complicated.

For work-group, take full database backup first. Then stop all services and take backup of entire DVDATA folder (assuming it is on D drive). Now, make fresh install of DELTAV on new machine (with exact hotfixes). stop all services, Call newly installed as DVDATA_Installed, then copy entire DVDATA, share this folder with everyone, also share database folder with everyone. re-start. I have listed major steps. full database backup is for insurance.

For Domain, it is complicated, you have to call new proplus as NEW_PROPLUS, check whether domain is working correctly on Old proplus, and if it is working then first grab all domain roles (there are five roles). once grabbed, almost same procedure as above needs to be followed.

If you have VCAT, then SQL needs to be installed first, else your VCAT will disappear, in which case, you will have to install SQL and then import full database backup.

I suggest, if you are not too sure, then call EMERSON helpline. As it can be messy if you don't follow exact steps. I have done it on few occasions, so, I know what it takes.

    Hi Shrihas,

It’s great to hear from you. Of course I do remeber for you :) I hope you are doing great too.

Thanks for the hints. Luckily it’s a tiny DeltaV system and we are using Workgroup.
Anyway do you have a KBA for this occassion?

    Cheers for that,
