Simulated Module List.

Greetings Everyone,

I am commissioning a Plant the database has many modules approx 500-600 while testing at least 60 % of those modules were simulated and are still in simulation.

Now, Is there any way to get a list of all the modules (Preferably in Excel) that are currently in simulation so that I can specifically open those modules and remove simulation ?

I cant download the controller and remove simulation of all modules as there are many alarm limit changes done from detail face-plate I'll have to upload those changes to database. Also is there any way by using events that I can extract list of those modules that are currently in simulation.

If not please suggest an alternative way.

Regards,

Farhan Siddiqui.

  • Hi

for the simulation disabling option and different alaram limits changes their is method called as bulkedit . As 60 % of the modules are in the simulated state so this is less amount so you can change the status manually.

  • Hi Farhan,
without having an active system in front of me, I think you can check in the diagnostic of your controller and check at least for abnormal function in control modules.
I preferr to add an alarm with a dedicated low priority and once the simulation is active you just suppress (not activate) this alarm. This can be shown later in the suppressed alarm list systemwide. Usefull for the user as well i.e. as overview for shift hand over etc.

  • The excel addin will help you to complete this. This will allow you to use OPC to query the online system to get the simulation status. It can also be used to write back to the online system to remove the simulation. This addin can be found on the D: drive (depending on installation).

The tool works by allowing you to build a path to the parameters you are trying to work with and read/write to the online system. The data sheet on the tool is here.

A simple google search on deltav excel addin willl yield additional reference material.

Steve Linehan's solution was my first thought as well. This will have many other uses for you in the future.
