  DeltaV Smart Switches do not require any configuration. Smart Switches may be used on both the DeltaV ACN and the Plant LAN ("Level 2.5") networks. Use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) switches for the DeltaV ACN is not supported, with a few narrow exceptions.

  you do need to commission them using the smart switch application available under applications in explorer.

  Several years ago the Smart Switches came with a setup document in the box. It gave instructions on the basic configuration to initialize the switch. It required a special serial adaptor to a RJ12 connector for a PC to talk to the switch. (You could buy or build your own.) I haven't installed a new switch in a couple of years so they hopefully have improved the install process. Once your switch is installed the network options can be configured with the Smart Switch Command Center. You can also login to the switch by IP Address from Internet Explorer. There isn't a document for Network design. I would recommend searching a Cisco support groups for advice there is you have special concerns.
