DeltaV VCAT and Offline Changes

Hi All.

Does anyone have any experience of the DeltaV VCAT and large offline changes?

I have been considering the use of VCAT, but am concerned that for large changes and offline testing it could become difficult to manage?

Any comments?

  • Not difficult, but can be frustrating with frequent module changes. It can consumes considerable resources (SQLSERVER instance) and requires the presence of an annoying dialog box on the desktop!

Thanks Adrian. Bit of a concern that it's so resource hungry. Probably need to look into it a bit more before deciding. I have used a similar system for Rockwell systems and found it very useful, but mainly for smaller changes.

I would wait to turn on VCAT until the configuration reaches a significant milestone, such as configuration freeze or entering factory acceptance.
