Delta-V connectivity with any OPC client

Hi All,

I want to poll some data (10 Analog values) from Delta-V pro+ station to any third party OPC client (Matrikon or kapware).I have procured OPC Remote server license (VE2223 for 250 points) for this purpose and deployed on pro+ station. Now I need to check the connectivity on remote (Non-Delta-V) station. I am able to see data trough "OPC WatchIt" but unable to see data on Matrikon OPC client.

Kindly suggest do I need any additional licenses for OPC mirror or onlt OPC remote license will be enough to poll data from pro+ station.

  • Have you installed OPC Remote (a utility found on DeltaV install disks) on the non-DeltaV client? This is the simplest way to ensure your client machine has the correct user accounts to enable data access to DeltaV OPC data and enable asynchronous callbacks to function. Can be done manually, but it can be a pain to configure. This also gives you OPCwatchit capability at the non-deltav machine.

Remember, you also need a common user account between both PRO+ and the non-deltav machine.

    Dear Adrin,
Yes , I have installed OPC Remote on non-Delta-V client and successfully got data on it and on OPC watchit. But unable to see data on matrikon OPC Explorer.

It could be user related issue. I suggest to try using DeltaVAdmin user to open matrikon data explorer (simplest way is to login on windows with that user).

Yes,I have tried it with kapware client and working fine with kapware. Thanks for your support.
  • Hello Ahad,

Also, another option would be to use OPC .NET to connect to DeltaV. It does not require any additional licensing, the VE2223 is all you need for 250 points. This may be an attractive option if you wan to send OPC data securely through a Firewall. Go to the page here for more details: www3.emersonprocess.com/.../
