DeltaV Database Administration

Hi!

I want to know what kind  of information in database.Because In DeltaV getting started there was no such requirement that you must have to create a database before making module etc.

So I want to know what kind of information that database contains.

Actually I am upgrading the system form DeltaV10.3 to 12.3 and just export the fhx of project and import it and now testing the application.I just check i don't have any database.

As I press on delete database button.It shows me blank selector.Now I should also Import the backup database?

And if I create a new.It will generate any error?

  Is this on online upgrade of a production system, or just a test system? Why are you not using the upgrade wizard?
  
  FYI, upgrades are quite a substantial task to perform, even for the experienced DeltaV engineer, I can't stress strongly enough that to ensure no long term issues, it would be wise to seek the assistance of experienced personnel.

  The types of questions you are asking indicate that you need to become familiarized with the overall system architecture before trying to execute the engineering work.
  The DeltaV control database contains the control logic, network architecture, security model, licensing store, among other things.
  When you install DeltaV, you start with a blank database. The pro plus, through the process of workstation configuration, asserts itself into the database as the first node. When you imported the fhx, you probably got a warning about overwriting the 'Site'. This will change the designation of the pro-plus in the database to whatever is stated in the fhx. You need to re-run workstation configuration (the create pro-plus option) to reset the physical pro plus as the database pro plus node.
  I'm not sure why you can't see the database in the administrator, but the physical files certainly exist on your server. (search for the database folder). The database administrator tool is probably incapable of accessing the database server due to security or other setup issue. Again, re-run workstation config and select the create pro plus option.

  I know that the database is there as I import the project it prompt.It will effect you database and same database is also selected as Active database.But I was thinking why it is not available in delete database option.
  I am doing upgradation in house not on production system.So I am exploring things.
  Can you please clarify.What is the difference a database which is import with the project.I mean the project is upgrade by update wizard.
