  • I assume you are logged in as administrator . . .

Could it be that the license for FF device support has not been assigned & downloaded to the ProPlus?
  • If you have AMS Device Manager interfaced to DeltaV, you should use the "Add Device Type" application (located in the AMS folder of your Start / Programs menu). When the two applications are online in the same system, this ensures the Device Descriptor is available to both DeltaV and AMS. Make sure you run this tool from the Server Plus (not a ClientSC). Also, the application sometimes has issues with complex folder paths, so put your Device Descriptor files someplace simple (C:\DD\<Folder for new device>).

If you have a standalone DeltaV system without AMS, that function should be available if you are logged in as an Administrator or other user with the Can Configure key.

There is no DeltaV license to enable FOUNDATION Fieldbus support. You would only need to tick "Enable Fieldbus" in the System Preferences utility. You would need a license to interface AMS Device Manager to DeltaV, since they are two separate applications / databases, but there is nothing specific to DeltaV.
  • In reply to Butler faith:

it is already enabled on the System Preferences, but the problem is at deltav operate I can't add a new device under "definition devices" is grayed

  • Are you on the ProPLUS? Add Device Type option is only available locally on the ProPLUS and on the remote sessions connected to the ProPLUS.
  • In reply to ekilkenny:

I would recommend using add device type through AMS menu in "All Program". This must be done on the AMS server plus station.

Note: check the DD ini file using the notepads and see what version of AMS is supported. If your version of AMS is not included, add it and save the file Then try adding it again.

thank you but the point is that I have not AMS and I want to add a fieldbus equipment is that it is possible or not because 'add device "is still grayed

    Butler -
AMS must be installed to add new device types, and to commission instruments, in DeltaV. This change came in version 9, when AMS was made separate from DeltaV.

    Butler -
What is the device revision? The Emerson Device Install Kit site shows integration testing of Device Revision 1 for DeltaV version 7.1 --> 10.3. DeltaV 11.3.1 has the IFC 300 Rev 3 as part of the standard Fieldbus library, but not Rev 1. You should be able to move forward without AMS if the transmitter is a Rev 3.

  • In reply to Jonas Berge:

    Dear Jonas,
not even if AMS is installed
