QUAD Monitors and Dell R5500, best practice for KVM extenders?

I see Emerson support Quad monitors on the R5500 workstation, but they don't support using the FX100 unit.  Therefore, what is the best KVM solution to enable remote QUAD monitors?  I've used Matrox Extio before (F2408), but not on R5500's, will they work?

  • Currently the only supported solution is to use a KVM extender from the alliance program.  We are investigating other options for Quad KVM solutions for the rack mounted workstation for sometime later this year.

Hi Bob, according to the St. Lewis/EEEC project team for the Saudi Chevron project, these Matrox KVM's were part of the Alliance program circa 2012, so my question still stands, will they work in R5500's?

    Hi,

You might want to look into Avocent products: www.emersonnetworkpower.com/.../Default.aspx

We use them for dual-screen and they work fine. Also, they are Emerson...

  • In reply to AdrianOffield:

To my knowledge these were never part of the official DeltaV alliance program. We did allow them to be used since we supported the compatible Matrox card at the time but they were never "officially" supported.

I have no idea if they work R5500 as we have never tested them - they may require a Matrox quad card. We do not support any Matrox cards in the R5500.

The only KVM's supported on DeltaV are those in the alliance program.

  • In reply to István Orbán:

Please do not use any KVMs on DeltaV except those in the Alliance program.  These devices are not always a simple plug and play implementation and you will have better results using our tested Alliance program vendors.  Avocent is in the Alliance program but not all Advocent KVMs are supported. Also due to implementation issues we cannot currently support touchscreens via the KVM.
