DeltaV Correct Installation steps

Hi Everyone,

I am new to DeltaV and different people tell me different installing procedure. I am confused. Is the following sequence of steps correct?

New Installation

Proplus

1. First install OS and aplly patches in proPlus server.

2. Assign Primary domain controller role to the Proplus.

3. Install DeltaV  software and apply patches

4. Install Anti Virus software

App Station

1. Install OS and apply patches to it.

2. Assign as backup domain controller role to App Station.

3. Install third  party applications like OPC etc

4.Install anti virus software

5. Install DeltaV software and aplly patches

Operator Station

1. Install OS and apply patches to it

2. Join domain controller

3. Install DeltaV software with setup package

  • I don't know if there is an proper definitive procedure, but I would comment as follows:

    The first step after installing the OS is to configure Windows as per Emerson guidelines (this is scripted if using an Emerson system image on new systems).

    There is an issue with adding a second domain controller after installing DeltaV whereby DeltaV changes a setting that prevents the second server from being promoted as a DC. See NK-1100-1055 for a solution, or just promote the second DC before installing DeltaV.

    Antivirus is best installed after DeltaV, otherwise you still need to re-configure the exceptions after DeltaV has been installed.

    Hi,

    I´ve noticed that it´s much easier to configure the whole windows enviroment before you start installing DV.

    You install the servers and connect the PC to the domain and then you start installing the DV. If you do this you don´t have to wonder about the user/security settings that DV changes after it´s installed. Also install the additional windows software before you install DV eg. Office programs (not SEP). Also keep in mind that you have to install teminal server role Before DV.
