Profibus configuration parameters

Hi,

Our Profibus instruments have some configuration parameters which should be defined by the client. For example, the parameters of a Schneider Tesys U:

Do you know a convenient way to export these into a list, either from the GSD file or DeltaV itself? I would like to hand them over to the client so that they can define the values they would like to have for these parameters.

Thanks,

  • Istvan,

I saw in a related post that you are familiar with the FHXtoXML and XMLtoFHX executables, as well as the utf converters.

I haven't had a chance to try this, but I'd start with an export of like devices (each device typically has its own list of these parameters as the generic ones are pulled into the Properties dialog). . When you export a device, the FHX includes the library items, such as the  Device Definition, which you can simply cut out and reduce the FHX to the actual device configuraitons.  Convert this to XML to be able to extract the parameters into a table.  With the data updated by the user, place this into the XML file and convert back to FHX.

Do one device and see if this works.  You need to be cautious that the FHX created by this process is sound by comparing it to a control export.  The XML converter files are intended for use on Recipe objects, and are not supported for general use.  This means if the tool does not correctly process the syntax of the Profibus Device FHX, Emerson won't try to fix it.  You'll have to deal with whatever issue might occur.

Be interested in how you solve this problem, or if anyone has another solution.
