Wireless transmitter communication problem

I have a Rosemount 648 Wireless HART transmitter trying to connect to a DeltaV via a 1410S Wireless Gateway.

This is all first time connections, so I don't assume that any part of it is working properly.

Gateway:

The gateway has been commissioned. In DeltaV Explorer, it shows that it has been downloaded, and it shows 1 I/O point, which matches the TT as above. In Diagnostics, it shows bad and claims "No Gateway Connection," but I think that's propagated up from the channel level.

Transmitter:

I have reconciled the I/O on the gateway, and it is assigned to the first I/O point with a tag of TT-AMB01 (ambient temperature). DeltaV Explorer seems to show everything as okay, assigned, downloaded, whatever. In Diagnostics, it shows bad and claims "No Gateway Connection." The module and AI block to which I have assigned it (HART_PV; I have parameters looking at SV, TV, and QV as well, and they all show 0 and bad status) just show 0 (and badPV), even though the temperature is more like 56 degF outside. I can bring up the transmitter in AMS, and everything looks fine to me. I can see the current temp; I can change the scan rate. When I bring the gateway up in a browser, I can see the transmitter (and another transmitter, but DeltaV isn't keen on talking to that one at all because it doesn't have a device definition file for it - that's a problem for another day) and all of its values. It looks happy there as well.

Where is my disconnect? Why does it look like it's perfectly connected some places and not others?

Thank you.

  • Sounds a little odd. Does the 1410 support a browser interface? See if it looks connected there. (right-click to access the HTML interface = "Wireless Gateway Web Interface") Seems like you must have the network and join key set up - check that they match what you see in the browser interface.
I don't use the I/O since it consumes DST's - everything coming in via Modbus.
Do you have another device to try or are other devices communicating normally?
