Visualisation of DeltaV SIS data

Hi, we have DeltaV 14.3.1 and have just installed our first DeltaV SIS hardware. In the standard iFIX dynamos, there is a couple of dynamo sets for SIS but are tailored more towards the function blocks rather then the IO. How are users visualising the IO on the process graphics? i.e. the raw AI input.

One possibility is to use a PCSD module for a soft AI and reference the SIS parameter. This will allow the value to be displayed in a standard AI dynamo, faceplate, trends etc.

Curious what others are doing to visualise SIS parameters on process graphics.

  • Hello Stuart,

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, but all the standard Dynamos on DeltaV Operate and DeltaV Live, monitors the process variable, including the AI values.

  • Hello Stuart.

We are using our standard AI-SOFT- modules, GEMs and dynamos and link the IO-input-reference to the SIS-AI. Like you mentioned before. The biggest advantage (for the operators) is, that the visualisation of the SIS-inputs itself is NOT different to BPCS-inputs.

To fullfill the regulatives in addition there are a few cause-and-effect- graphics as well as voter-visualisations of course, but for the process graphics the signal differences doesn´t matter.

Why would you use AI-SOFT with DeltaV SIS? Is this an Interfaced system?
  • In reply to Tadeu Batista:

    No its DeltaV SIS.

    Installation:
    - A SIS control module processes the SIS-AI. A parameter is wired to the OUT of SIS-AI (preparation for the BPCS transfer). All the voters and CEMs are inside this module too.
    - a SOFT-AI-Module in the BPCS is reading the prepared parameter in the SIS-Module (=> "standard" classes, GEMs, etc. with all the look & feel our operators are used to; and no additional DST-counts)

    Why would you do that?
The SZ Controller can directly assign any LS Input directly to the Analog Input FB, there's no need for using Non-Secure parameter.
Prior to v14, we used Shadow Blocks for Alarms, but from v14 on, we have Alarm Groups as well, so there's no need to use SOFT-AI.

    Rgs,

That´s fine. Thanks for the information!
But our philosophy is to reference every I/O only once. So all the I/O-parameters are set at one place. And it does not double the DST-counter as well...

Stefan, I believe we're drifting away from the subject a little bit here, but can you confirm which version of DeltaV are you using? I just did a test on a v14.LTS system, and the DST for AI/DI is counted once, no matter how many control modules assign this particular channel.
