AMS Device Manager - How to display EDDL charts

Hello everybody,

I'm using AMS Device Manager ver. 12.5 to manage a HART device (valve positioner). I have defined a strip chart in the device's DDL file (in order to display the position set-point vs the actual position) that I'd like to integrate into AMS. Basically what I want is something like the attached picture. The AMS documentation states that this is possible, but I haven't found any description of how to achieve this (I checked both the AMS Device Manager documentation and the AMS Toolkit ver. 10 documentation). Is it necessary to configure in some special way a custom control in the Visual C resource file (for example, to display a parameter in AMS you have to specify 'Parameter' in the Class field and provide

the parameter name in the Caption field)? Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you in advance for your help

  • Hi Alex,

The strip chart functionality is part of the EDDL language, and not unique to AMS Device Manager. To visualize a strip chart, simply put it on a menu in your DD. You will, however, need to use DD menus instead of AMS Device Manager resource files to visualize your DD in order to include the strip chart.

    Hi Chris,
Thank you for your quick reply.
The strip chart is already part of a menu in the DD file (and it is actually displayed fine on a 375/475 handheld device). What I want to achieve is to display the strip chart in AMS (also to exploit the much bigger PC screen, of course). What are exactly the steps to do that?

    Thank you
