Manufacturing processes create a huge stream of data during the production process as well as with the assets involved in this process. Effective asset management for reliable operations requires getting the early warning signals among this vast sea of data to right person or people for action.

At the recent Emerson Exchange conference in The Hague, Plantweb Optics was announced, as:

…a new mobile-ready collaboration software platform that provides an unprecedented view of plant reliability and operational performance. Connecting technicians, engineers and plant management through Plantweb Optics transforms decades-old work processes, providing cross-functional collaboration and decision-making to help plants operate safely and profitably.

Key elements are that access to potential issues is mobile enabled, targeted for the personnel responsible for investigating and addressing the situation, and collaborative with the information available to the right experts no matter where they are located.

Noted Emerson’s Systems and Solutions group president, Jim Nyquist:

Emerson's Jim NyquistGetting the right data into the hands of the right people is paramount for our customers, and Plantweb Optics aggregates asset health information from various sources and not only prioritizes the most important and relevant asset data, but easily targets actionable data to the people responsible for acting on it… It transforms how companies have traditionally managed data and puts companies on the right path to digitally enable their workforce.

You can see the mobile Plantweb Optics application by downloading it from either the Apple App Store or Google Play for your iOS or Android mobile devices.

The application includes a demonstration to show the type of messages, watch list items, unhealthy assets and flagged assets. These are organized by individual by location. This data consolidates various predictive intelligence applications, which are aggregated to create a holistic, asset-centric picture of manufacturing asset health.

The mobile application receives persona-based alerts and key performance indicators (KPIs) to address issues before they affect overall reliability of the rotating equipment, instruments and valves.
