Fostering Collaborative Maintenance Practices

Tools that advance collaborative efforts among co-workers, especially for maintenance teams in manufacturing operations, help increase reliable and efficient operations.

Here’s an under 3-minute YouTube video example, Managing Device Configurations with AMS Trex, demonstrated by Emerson’s Stephen West. In it, he shows how the AMS Trex Device Communicator helps maintenance teams efficiently manage the configurations of their smart HART field devices, even if team members don’t have access to an asset management database.

Steve shows how once the AMS Trex communicator is connected to a HART device, such as a Rosemount pressure transmitter, hitting ‘Save Config’ brings it into AMS Trex. From there, it can be saved offline in the asset management database or downloaded to a similar HART field device to quickly configure it.

He then shows how to transfer the configuration back to the asset management database where the saved configuration can be shared to different AMS Trex communicators to be available by all staff members who use them.

This is another example of using digital communications and technologies to foster more effective and efficient work practices for the digital workforce required for top manufacturing performance.
