pass boolean value from command button to PID module

Deal gents can controle

I got a request from operation to create command button on one graph which selects between two PID modules . The operator can only control one of them. I've created the command button and change its caption each time the operators click. I need a way to write a value in the selected module to enable operator control and not this value in the other non selected pid to prevent any access to it

my question is what is the VB command to write in any module.parameter in Deltav?

I have Deltav 14.31

Deltav operate

I do not prefer to use global variable . I just need the opposite function to datalink function.

OWS can not open control studio ang gives Access Denied

Dear All

I have one pro , 2 engineer, 14 ows, one HIST

ows 1, ows 7, ows 13 do not open control studio giving error Access denied as shown in photo

Note that these stations also could not access online database when using 'DVoperate in configuration mode:

provided that :

1- service password is correct and confirmed

2- when run deltav workstation configuration program it fails to complete and the only way to rerun the OWS is using regall /register command

NOTE : : SECOND PHOTO IS WHAT I GOT AFTER RUNNING DVWORKSTATION CONFIGURATION UTILITY

deleted files after download

Dear All

I have a new issue whenever i download my engineering workatation some files on folder D:\Dvdata\download are deleted and are not recreated

this impacts module search in deltav operate run mode

Also when i tried to run Deltav workstation utility the machine continue and after restart it losses communication with Deltav despite it is a part of the domain

and the only way to fix this issue is to restore from image which have the download issue.

the above issue is repeated foe 2 ows

we run ver 14.3.1 lts

Dear All

Kindly note that I have Deltav for more than three and half years. Recently we upgraded the release to 14.3.1 but unfortunately we got some issue with some dynamos which are screeched when the operator moves between two or three Graphic quickly from operator keyboard using key macro in user file.

The combination which makes error is CTRL+shift + any key

any other combination does not make any error

I simulate the operator keyboard by using standard keyboard and press ctrl +shift + (A to Z) got same error

Also we have some keys built-in toolbar if you press ctrl + Shift and keep moving between two grph quickly

you will get same error as shown in th next pics

replacing failed ows

Dear All

i have recently installed deltav 14.31 on DCS system porplus as domain and 12 operator work stations and one engineering

recently one ows hdd failed

i am unable to reinstall system from beginning as I am out of gradian

Do any one have a solution for this

considering if I got image from one OWS the restore on another new machine then use Deltav workstation configuration tool to rename the the domain recognizes this and blocks the original one from log on

which means i ll lose the running one and could not reconnect it to the domain

any help will be appreciated

1420 Wireless Gateway

Hi,

My Wireless Gateway suddenly stopped registering devices. I did a hard reset on board using the DIP switch method, restarted the Gateway, logged in using default credentials, restored a known functional backup, and restarted the Gateway again. It is still not working. It runs firmware version 4.5.59. I want to update the firmware to the latest version 4.8. Please where can I download. It seems Emerson, from the website, says the gateway is not supported (obsolete).

Time and Flow Weighted Average at the S600 Floboss

Dear fellows,

I'm trying to understand the definition mentioned for the TWA method used by the S600 to calculate the flow average but couldn't get much further.

I fount the definition at the manual extremely confusing as shown below:

The only thing I need to assure is that the TWA takes into account JUST the periods where the flow isn't zero an then returns me the flow weighted mean using the time as "weight" except when there is no flow. Is this the calculation that the TWA actually does?

For each period type (i.e. hourly, daily, monthly) the task relies upon the elapsed time for the period, multiplied by the present TWA value to give the “weight” for the average. The latest measured value (of the variable being averaged), multiplied by the elapsed time since the last TWA calculation was performed, gives the new “weight” to be incorporated into the whole. This is only calculated when the flow rate is greater than zero.

Floboss 407 refusing to apply low DP cutoff setting

Hello everyone, hope someone might give me a help here.

We've got an Emerson 407 on our metering station that doesn't seem to enforce the low DP Cutoff setting we've applied to it.

I've set the low DP cutoff to 0.124544 kPa but even so it keeps counting smaller values of DP and calculating their corresponding volumes on the daily report. This 407 is running software version W68044 Ver1.13 by the way.

Any ideas on how to stop this from occurring??

Animation for a Wind Vane

I have configured a wind vane. From north to 360deg rogation, 4-20mA AI was configured.

However I have been stuck to make animation of compass to demonstrate the wind direction on the HMI of DeltaV v13.

Can anyone help me find a benchmark or a ready made configuration?

How to change severity of alarm historian messages

To view messages in alarm historian through our own network, severity level of the message needs to be equal to or more than 100.

Currently the severity of messages for operator change is 1 in the system in my DCS (DeltaV v 13).

Can anybody let me know if I can change the severity level of operator changes? And if yes, how I can change them?

PID Faceplate

I updated PID control module with a new face plate (three slave controllers instead of two slave controllers). Downloaded the control module on App station. It works fine and no issues on the app station but not tested on the operator stations. Later operators told me that they were not yet ready for three slave controllers, and I need to go back to the original face plate. I changed to the original face plate and downloaded the control module. No issues on app station to open face plate. I had two issues by switching back to the original face plate.

1. Operators were not able to open the face plate of this particular PID module on any operator station? But I could open it on the app stations. I am not sure why? We could resolve this by rebooting the operator stations.

2. On the app station this particular PID module still gives an error message indicating that the new face plate is missing when I try to trend (PV,SP and OP) from the face plate.

My question is what all the steps that I need to take/update when I create a new face plate?

Dear All

on PIC folder I deleted some files called group3000_01, group3000_02

Then I created a new ones with the same name

but they are auto deleted from the folder.

on other words

the system automatically deletes any new files has a previously deleted name

my ver is 14.2

Also I am disable auto update for displays

I would like to use Emerson 770 Foundation Fieldbus USB Interface Modem with PACTWare software for other than Emerson LIT. Does Emerson have DTM files that can use the Modem VEGA or E&H or Magnetrol transmitter to be connected to PACTWare.

Hello everyone. hope you are all fine.

Could you please tell me about the procedure of connecting AMS device manager and deltaV and then adding new fieldbus device for monitoring in both softwares? We have a pressure transmitter which is connected to our DCS through a fieldbus card. But we cannot monitor the transmitter in AMS or DeltaV. The fieldbus card is detected in DeltaV in the configure I/O section, but when corresponding port is enabled and the new fieldbus device is added, the icon color is red. Moreover in AMS software, we cannot see the device. what are the potential problems and how can we fix it? the version of the AMS and DeltaV is 13.

MPC to control oil viscosity by adding butane and diluent trim

Hello,

We are currently trying to control our thermal oil sands blend by adding diluent and butane to get a viscosity of 380 cP. The issue we are having is that the blend points are far upstream of the where the viscosity analyzer is. (The analyzer is owned by the shipping company, and they send the signal to our DCS) The dead time appears to be around 75 seconds. The other issue we are having is that the viscosity of the tanks we are shipping from is not 100 percent constant, meaning with the diluent flow control valve in manual, you would expect the viscosity to be fairly stable but it does fluctuate somewhat.

The other issue we seem to be having is that when we increase our oil shipping flow rate, the amount of diluent we need to add changes and does not appear to be linear. (More oil flow means we need more diluent trim, but the ratio is not linear)

I have been trying to build MPC models, but cannot get them to be accurate. Even worse, when I try to verify the models by selecting all of the current data the accuracy goes out the window.

If anyone has any experience with MPC of this particualr or a similar application it would be appreciated!
