spare pro plus

i have dcs deltav 

i want to take acronis image for pro plus

restore on a new machine

keep it on shelve

can this restored machine work once it is connected to the network

provided that pro plus is pdc

  More or less
  because proplus is very often updated, if you put back an "old station" you will lose data .
  in addition of Configuration changes, the powerup folder are especially important to allow partial download.
  if you replace Pplus with an out of date one, you will have blue triangles every where and you will have to perform total download instead of partial download. In addition if the PPLUS is AD and you have a second AD on your networks, AD wil be also corrupted.
  The best way is to have 1 P+ in spare but bakcup must be daily performed.

  My site is stable and running
  No changes in data base are done regularly
  Only when we have a problem
  So my vision is to have a spare pro plus on shelf to be there in case we have ours fallen or any problems with ours
  I can bear the risk of fully download the nodes
  And restart the project again

  Even on "stable" system
  Powerup folder must be daily backuped somewhere else to allow restore it in cas you have to replace your pplus
  and also take care if PPLUS is AD controller with another AD controller, AD must be always synchronised.
  And also tale car if PPLUS is also Event chronicle main server....

  one Historian as SDC
  second historian
  14 OWS
  1 EWS
  then as i understand and pls correct me if i am wrong
  I can make one image for p+ using acronis then restore on the new machine

  then in case of p+ failure i can put the other machine after copy the latest version of power up folder and the events files on it
  also please advise what should i bkp for AD and how can i sync it?
  
  after this only i need to download all controller and stations

  => if system "stable" without too much changes in users, do also acronis of your second domain controller

  => No if powerup are up to date you don't need download

  that describes an accurate procedure to restore PPLUS on a running plant and how to resynchronize AD
  If you can "stop" your plant in case of pplus failure, the procedue is much simpler.
