117 Cutting-Edge Technologies Solve The Most Difficult Problems

Session Abstract

Three 0.5MW pumps are used to inject seawater into seven oil wells. When these operate around their minimum and maximum flow points the forces applied to the motor bearings can result in failure. Moreover, the flow and pressure of injection branches must be adjusted to prevent the parting pressure and flow preventing destruction of the oil wells. This presentation looks at the selection of instrumentation to meet the severe flow conditions and the selection of bypass valves to solve the problem of high pressure drop.
