Steve Sonnenberg: Looking ahead

Steve Sonnenberg video on business outlookI’m optimistic about the rest of this year, and also very optimistic about an inflection point coming midway through next year.”

That’s how Steve Sonnenberg, president of Emerson Process Management, described his outlook on the process industry in a video from the 2013 Emerson Global Users Exchange.

After two years of rapid gains, recent business growth has been slower but still positive.  The future looks even brighter as projects now in the front-end engineering design (FEED) stage move toward implementation in mid- to late 2014.

Availability of low-cost natural gas, especially in North America, is opening new opportunities in industries such as power generation and petrochemicals.  Sonnenberg also looks forward to an improving European economy, which could affect other regions as well.
