Flowmeter frequency damping

Looking for feedback on any implications of a flowmeter frequency output configured with no damping, for process control.  We've seen configuration issues from O&G meters after proving runs, and one solution is to change the factory default setting.  Frequency is usually only used for totalization during either batching or fiscal transfer in my experience, but I'm looking for additional insights.

Thanks!

  • Loop tuning- for process control (ie, fast exothermic reaction) would the lack of damping on our frequency output cause a safety or loop-tuning problem?  The real question is if frequency is used outside of accounting or fiscal measurement.  I don’t think it’s common…

We are evaluating chaning the default on how meters are set up from the factory.  Would fix a meter proving issue (currently the customer must change the config for proving and then remember to change it back) - which doesn't always happen, and the configuration can be unintentionally altered

I trust this clarifies the question!
