Does anyone have any references/feedback where DeltaV S-series H1 card (preferably the one with integrated power supply) has been used together with MTL megablocks? Interested to know how they interconnect, if there are any issues or specific things to take into consideration if designing the segments with this hardware.

Currently commissioning a fiber plant in Indonesia using DeltaV S-series fieldbus H1 card with integrated power together with MTL Megablock couplers. No issues.
MTL Megablocks are widely used. There are quite a number of plants using DeltaV S-series fieldbus H1 card with integrated power. So there has to be several other plants also using this combination,
I did some further research. The DeltaV H1 card with integrated power provides 28-30 V. The MTL “Megablock” FCS-MB series couplers supports up to 32 V so they are compatible. This of course is no coincidence, 32 V is part of the FOUNDATION fieldbus specification, so Pepperl+Fuchs “Segment Protector” couplers and other couplers are designed to >=32 V and all power supplies including DeltaV integrated power are designed to =<32 V such that all these parts are compatible, thus simplifying the engineering of these solutions.
(Note: another standard voltage applies to intrinsic safety)
That is, regardless of the brand of coupler the plant uses in the field junction box, it is possible to use the DeltaV H1 card with integrated power, landing the fieldbus trunk cable from the field junction box directly on the card, eliminating the need for an intermediate marshalling cabinets. This minimizes the system footprint and simplifies engineering since signals are marshaled “virtually” by pointing and clicking in Control Studio.
