I have been having some trouble with commissioning of some new "Next Gen" switches that are replacing old existing smart switches. I was told not to use "commission as replacement" in this case, so here are the steps I took:
- Unassigned the current smart switch control module
- Deleted the module from the server
- Deleted the CM from the offline side
- Powered off old switch and replaced with new "Next Gen" switch
- When new switch showed up in "Decommissioned Switches" in NDCC, I selected it and selected "Commission"
- Entered the switch name and password (x2), plant area etc. and clicked "Commission"
- DeltaV does it's thing up to the point of the required module download - where it fails and says "module must be downloaded manually"
- I manually download the module, but the commissioning process does not continue (i.e. "updating properties of the switch" etc.)
Now the switches appear as normal in NDCC, but I am unable to access via telnet because the password seems to be corrupted??? (NO the default doesn't work, and NO it wasn't typed in wrong)
Does anyone have any thoughts? Is the only recourse now to reset the switches to factory defaults and recommission them again??
Thanks
Don

DeltaV NextGen Smart Switch Getting Started Guide D800152X012 Chapter 8 DeltaV NextGen Smart Switch User Access Recovery. When our team first got one of these, we had not imported the new Module that Andre indicated, and it failed to get into the system, we tried to get in as you did with no success, so we ran the reset, added the updated fhx and then recommissioned as new, and had no issues. I think your best bet is to reset it, very easy to do
