Upgrade iFix Graphics from V14 to V15

Hello, i need to upgrade DeltaV from V14LTS to V15FP2

For DeltaV Explorer (fhx): I can use the "migrate configuration" utility in the database administration.

For iFix (*.grf):

- Is there any need to convert the "*.grf" - Files to DeltaV V15 (LTS or FP2) after copying from V14?

- Is there any tool to check for issues?

  I did a quick check of the v15.LTS (NK-2200-0459) and v15.FP1 (NK-2300-0347) release notes and there is no mention of any action on GRF files. I did not find a v15.FP2 Release Notes KBA. You should review V15.LTS notes to be aware of any migration concerns between the major versions. The FP release notes may not cover everything in the LTS notes.
  
  Typically, *.GRF files do not require any migration. Note that there are not going to be any substantive updates to Operate in v15 or v16 as new features are being deployed in Live.
  
  Your displays should work as they did before. Any runtime errors would report on opening them in v15. Always make sure your configuration is clean and error free prior to migration, or at least all errors such as unresolved references or module generation errors are understood so you know what is "new" following a migration. Some errors may not be resolved prior to migration so you want to be able to know what was present before to know what may have been introduced in migration.

  I appreciate the advices here as we will venture into the process of upgrading from V14.3 to V15 in the near future. I plan to study the Release notes thoroughly as best I can. We will do the upgrade on our Dev system first. We would appreciate if anyone that can share their experiences i.e., issues to watch out for. I do have a few questions:
  
  1. Does upgrading from v14.3 to v15 require new or updated license from Emerson?
  
  2. Are there new hardware and software requirements for v15 such as new servers specs and new OSs?
  
  3. I understand V15 still support Operate graphics but what about V16? Must we transition to DeltaV Live for V16?

  Current news are that Operate will be available under DeltaV v16 but not DeltaV v17.

  When updating to Live, you will want to add the Live Premium licensing for the pro Plus and workstations. These are not needed while you stay at operate. I would suggest you add the Live Premium license for the Pro Plus and maybe one Operator station and get started with live. This will allow you to learn and prepare for the update of the HMI. The additional Live Premium for Operator stations could wait until you are ready to roll out Live displays on those stations.
