DeltaV M & S Series Profibus and Siemens Cards

Hi,

has anyone successfully used ET200MP, ET200SP or ET200iSP with an M Series Profibus or an S-Series Profibus module?

We have in the past used ET200M but as this is getting phased out we are looking towards future alternatives.

I have access to the gsd files but my on my test rig it seams my testM-Series card has given up the ghost so I am unable to test it.

  • Yes, on DeltaV 14.3
The two pieces that tripped us up was finding the correct GSD files adding the "server module in the last slot" End Cap.

    1. First ensure that the network is terminated correctly if this is a new Profibus card. There is a switch on the back of the card that provides the terminator at the card if the card is at the end of the Profibus network. If the card is in the middle of the network the switch needs to be off.
    2. Make a list of models and versions of the Profibus comm card and each IO card. These must match the configuration.
    3. Install a GSD file that matches the Siemens adapter model and version.
      1. Note that \si0181ab.gsd_V04.02.169.00 did not work and we ended up using si0081ab.gsd_V04.02.169.00_Rev3 for
        ET 200SP, IM155-6DP HF incl. DP-Connect. 0 6ES7155-6BA01-0CN0

    4. Create a new Profibus Device using a short descriptive name like PAS-#-R## or RIO-#-R##  System-Controller# -Rack ##

    5. Create slots based on the module and version of the IO cards from the installed GSD file.

    6. You will need to create a Server Module Slot for the End Cap.

    7. By default, the Signal tag will start with the device name characters, then add Slot and Channel as you add signal tags.

    8. Set the parameter for each slot.
      1. Set Potential group for the whether the termination passes power to the right (Light BU) or is receiving power from the left (Dark BU)
      2. Enable each DI and DO channels.
      3. Analog channels need Type of measurement set. Note that two wire or four wire are wired differently on the termination blocks.
    1. All changes to the physical rack require a power cycle.
Then the configuration changed to match the rack and a device download.

    2. Download Profibus Port. Note that this will disrupt existing devices on the Profibus port.
    1. Suggest setting up all channels with generic rack slot channel signal tagging and referencing these in the control module. This is to avoid downloading the Profibus device later and disrupting all the IO channels on this device. (Rack)

    2. Diagnostics will provide channel values.

    3. One thing about Profibus devices, you need to create all valid slots assignment, or the device will throw back errors.

    Stay Safe out there.
