Afternoon Forums Focus on Industry Issues

From 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, Emerson Exchange attendees can choose from among seven Industry Forums for an exploration of topics of concern to specific process industry segments. For more details on the planned agenda, speakers and panelists for each Forum, please consult the event app.

Chemicals Forum: The past few years have been quite challenging for the industrial and specialty chemical sector. Low oil prices, regulatory pressures, climate change, global competition and changing demographics to name a few. Presentations at this forum will discuss challenges and opportunities in the North American chemical industry, including potential implications of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Engineering Forum: Under the session theme “Leveraging the NEW Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Best Practices to Improve Project Certainty,” this year’s Engineering Forum will discuss the Construction Industry Institute’s recent release of RT-312, which provides guidelines for significantly improving on-time and on-budget CSU completion. A four-person panel of EPC and end users with RT-312 experience will field questions following a Findings and Critical Success Factors presentation.

Life Sciences/Pharmaceuticals Forum: In April 2016 the FDA issued “Data Integrity and Compliance With CGMP Guidance for Industry.” The guidance comes on the heels of related 483s, warning letters, and more severe actions with respect to this issue. In this session, we will discuss the data integrity topic and its importance for continuous manufacturing.

Upstream Oil & Gas Forum: As oil prices continue to stabilize, the industry’s focus on operational efficiency and lower costs continues. This forum will address the best practices of leading production operators in functional areas of facility design, wellpad operation, and managing produced fluids in a world of increased regulatory standards for emissions and safety.

Oil & Gas Operations Management Automation Forum: Today’s facilities generate an enormous amount of data that is difficult to organize, analyze and act on. With the retirement of experienced personnel, more standardization and automation of business and engineering workflows will be required. This opportunity is the next frontier of automation and operational efficiency. Come participate in a discussion of how the evolving best practices of operations management can be effectively linked to business opportunity.

Pulp & Paper Forum: What are today’s mills doing to ensure sustainability and future profitability? Topics of discussion in this year’s Pulp & Paper Forum include: reliability (uptime, maintenance costs, predictive, etc.), sustainability (water, energy, stream, air) and variability (measurement & reduction, advanced control, etc.).

Refining & Petrochemicals Forum: This Forum will include presentations on the State of the Petrochemical Industry and Forecast; Best Practices with Revamps and Modernization Projects; and, Wireless Applications to Improve Reliability, Safety and Efficiency. The Forum will also include an opportunity for the audience to participate in the discussion.
